Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that five-and-a-half acres of Crown Land near Aberdeen Village, Hong Kong, have been leased for 21 years to a private company for the erection of a country club; what are the terms of this lease; and why it was sanctioned, in view of the fact that this land is one of the few hitherto unoccupied accessible building areas on this island.
§ Mr. Maudling5.2 acres of land were granted to the Hong Kong Country Club under a 21-year, non-renewable, recreational lease at an annual rent of $10 per acre. The site forms part of 21 acres reserved for various recreational purposes.
