§ Mr. ErrollThe Committee has been asked to consider, in relation to takeover bids, the duties of directors and the rights of shareholders. Thus it is concerned to see whether existing legislation ensures fair dealing between the parties to such transactions. The broader economic and social questions which have been raised in relation to some recent bids are not within the Committee's terms of reference.
