asked the Minister of Transport if he will give for each year since 1948 the increase in the pensions of railway superannuitants expressed on a percentage basis; and if he will give comparative figures for the increase in the cost of living.

The British Transport Commission introduced schemes for supplementing pensions of railway super-annuitants in 1953, 1955, 1956 and 1961. The supplements varied widely according to a variety of factors including the amount of pension, the amount of any previous supplements, length of service, and year of retirement. I regret that it is not possible to quote standard or representative percentage increases
