Mr. VaneThe powers exercised by the Ministry under the Agriculture Act, 1957, empower us to pay Farm Improvement Scheme grant only on the making and improvement of roads. The same is broadly true of the legislation governing grants for roads in livestock rearing areas. I do not think it would be appropriate to extend these powers to include grants for ordinary repair and maintenance work.
