§ Commander Purseyasked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty if he will state the number of rooms in the original accommodation provided for the commanding officer of H.M.S. "Ganges", the Boys' Training Establishment at Shotley, Suffolk, and his family; what is the present use of this accommodation; what is the number of rooms now occupied by the commanding officer at Erwarton Hall; what is the distance of the hall from the establishment; and why, on 5th June, the Admiralty paid £11,000 for the hall.
§ Mr. C. Ian Orr-EwingErwarton Hall has been the residence of the captain of H.M.S. "Ganges" since 1905. Until this year it has been occupied under lease. It was purchased on 5th June to ensure its continued availability as the captain's residence.
The accommodation comprises four bedrooms, one dressing room, six attic rooms, a drawing room, dining room and study as well as the usual offices.
The house is two miles from the establishment.
