HL Deb 07 June 1962 vol 241 cc809-10WA
LORD MOLSON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state which Local Authorities in Scotland have increased their rents since the compilation of Cmnd. 1609, and by how much.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (LORD CRAIGTON)

Local authorities are under no obligation to inform my right honourable friend the Secretary of State of revisions in their rents between the annual rent returns. The figures in the latest return up to November 28, 1961, are now out of date. My right honourable friend's Department has written to authorities owning in all some 90 per cent. of local authority houses, asking for an interim return. When this is received I will send it to the noble Lord and also arrange for a copy to be placed in the Library.
