§ 62. Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement on his recent discussions with Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the Prime Minister of Singapore.
§ Mr. MaudlingMr. Lee Kuan Yew had talks with the Prime Minister, the Commonwealth Secretary, the Minister of Defence and myself. There was an exchange of views on a number of subjects arising out of the agreement between the Governments of the Federation of Malaya and the State of Singapore for merger in a Federation of Malaysia.
We reaffirmed Her Majesty's Government's support for the aim of creating a Federation of Malaysia and discussed with Mr. Lee its implications for Singapore.
