HC Deb 31 July 1962 vol 664 c43W
43. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what are the results of the meeting last week between the Kent County Council and the district councils on the plight of those gypsies and other travellers who, six months after being evicted from Darenth Woods, are still living on the grass verge of the A.2 trunk road near Dartford.

Mr. Corfield

I understand that the meeting resulted in a greater awareness of the urgency of the problem and of the need for concerted action by the local authorities concerned. The county council have offered to assist in the provision of sites, and they are now helping to find suitable places.
