Williamsasked the Postmaster-General how much the General Post Office intends to spend on the development of communication satellites in the years 1962–63, 1963–64, 1964–65, 1965–66 and 1966–67; and whether these amounts have been included in the estimates of Post Office capital expenditure.
§ Mr. BevinsIt is expected that the Post Office will spend approximately £700,000 in the year 1962–63 on the development of communications via artificial satellites. The level of expenditure in subsequent years has not yet been settled, but the figures I gave the hon. Member on 29th June included a tentative provision of £1 million in each year.
