Erringtonasked the Secretary of State for War what stage the Bower Committee has reached in regard to its investigation of the move towards larger infantry regiments; and whether, in view of the public anxiety which exists, he will give an undertaking that no irrevocable step will be taken before Parliament sits in the autumn.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe Committee has completed its work and its report will have to be very carefully considered in the War Office. This is bound to take some time, and I can certainly give my hon. Friend the assurance for which he asks, that no irrevocable steps will be taken during the Summer Recess.
