HC Deb 04 July 1962 vol 662 cc39-40W
37. Mr. Bence

asked the Minister of Transport how many berths are unoccupied on the Clyde shipyards; and what steps he proposes taking to assist the Clyde shipyards.

Vice-Admiral Hughes Hallett

At the end of May, 1962, 48 berths were unoccupied in the Clyde shipyards, but as was pointed out in reply to a similar Question by the hon. Member on 14th February last, this is not a true measure of idle capacity. We have no proposals in mind for special assistance to Clyde shipyards.
