HC Deb 26 January 1962 vol 652 cc45-6W
Mr. Brewis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the area of productive woodlands under the control of the Forestry Commission in Scotland at 30th September, 1961, and how this compares with the areas in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively.

Mr. Maclay

The areas of the Forestry Commission's productive woodlands at that date were as follows:

Acres
Scotland 593,500
England 503,500
Wales 247,200

The Government of Northern Ireland inform me that the comparable area there is 58,000 acres.

All these areas include plantations too young to be producing timber.
