§ Mr. MaclayOn 30th September, 1961, the total nursing and midwifery staff was 23,993 whole-time and 6,670 part-time. The number of nursing staff required is decided by each board of management in conjunction with the regional hospital board: my Department makes no recommendations in this respect.
