asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made in securing a Convention between the United Kingdom and Italy for the avoidance of double taxation.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE)

An Agreement between Her Majesty's Government and the Italian Government for the avoidance of double taxation was signed in July, 1960. Since December, 1960, Her Majesty's Government have been ready to exchange ratifications. The Agreement has not yet, however, been ratified by the Italian Government. The Italian Government are aware of Her Majesty's Government's desire that ratifications should be exchanged as soon as possible.
