Mr. Gower

asked the President of the Board of Trade what areas in Wales were classified, at the latest convenient date, for special assistance under the Local Employment Act; and to what extent the original classifications have been changed.

The only alteration which has been made so far has been the deletion of Llanelly. The following is the list:

  • Ammanford and Garnant.
  • Anglesey.
  • *Bargoed (including Blackwood, Pontlottyn and Ystrad Mynach).
  • Blaenau Ffestiniog.
  • Caernarvon (including Bangor and Bethesda).
  • *Merthyr Tydfil.
  • Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock.
  • *Pontardawe and Ystalyfera.
  • *Pontyclun and Tonyrefail.
  • Pwllheli and Portmadoc.
  • Rhondda.
  • *Rhyl.

*The asterisks indicate those development districts for which the Board of Trade are not accepting applications for assistance.
