HC Deb 27 February 1962 vol 654 cc133-4W
Q12. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Prime Minister in view of the willingness of Mr. Khrushchev to work with the United States Government in space research and President Kennedy's acceptance of this suggestion, and in view of the interest of Her Majesty's Government in space research, whether Her Majesty's Government will give every help and assistance in the development of an international space research programme.

The Prime Minister

Her Majesty's Government have already supported, as did the United States and Soviet Union, the United Nations Resolution of 20th December, 1961, which advocated international co-operation in certain practical applications of space research. We are ready to co-operate as far as our resources and commitments permit and earnestly hope that the programme suggested in the United Nations Resolution can be successfully carried out.
