HC Deb 27 February 1962 vol 654 c121W
53. Mr. Graham Page

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what steps he is taking to organise his proposed special drive on the worst slums in the big cities and towns, particularly those in the North and in the Midlands; and by what agencies this special drive is to be undertaken.

75. Mr. Mapp

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will consult directly with the 50 local authority areas having concentrated slum clearance problems as to the powers and financial assistance that will be necessary to eliminate their slums within the next 10 years.

Dr. Hill

My Department will shortly be starting discussions with the local authorities which seem to have the worst problems, and I hope that it will be possible to get these authorities to arrange forward programmes for the replacement of slums on an increasing scale.
