HC Deb 27 February 1962 vol 654 c132W
97. Mr. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if the speech made in Wellington, New Zealand, on 20th February by the United Kingdom High Commissioner, about imports of meat and dairly produce, was made with his authority.

Mr. Sandys

This speech which was made in Christchurch, was an able and realistic assessment of the problems facing New Zealand and Britain in our lamb and butter markets. It is part of the regular duties of our High Commissioners to make speeches, and for this they require no special authority.
