HC Deb 27 February 1962 vol 654 c125W
84. Mr. Goodhew

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will institute an inquiry into the leak of information about the new constitutional proposals for Northern Rhodesia, upon the eve of the departure of the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations on his recent visit to the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland.

Mr. Maudling

There has been a great deal of Press speculation, but I have not seen any report so detailed and accurate as to provide evidence of a leak.

85. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for Colonies if he will now make a statement on the constitutional changes he proposes for Northern Rhodesia in view of the necessity to dispel the doubt and uncertainty in the Protectorate.

Mr. Maudling

As I informed the House last week, I hope to make a statement very shortly.
