HC Deb 26 February 1962 vol 654 cc93-4W
Mr. Warbey

asked the Minister of Power if he will give a breakdown of his calculation of the cost per unit of electricity to be generated by the Size-well station, showing separately the amounts allowed for net capital amortisation and for interest charges, and also the credit allowed for plutonium.

Mr. George

The generating board estimates that the total capital charges for Sizewell will be about 0.45d. a unit. It would be unrealistic to attempt to break this down between capital amortisation and interest. The calculation is made on an annuity basis and the proportion of each item changes as the station gets older. The calculation includes a credit for plutonium of substantially less than 0.1d. a unit.
