asked the Minister of Health if he will state the yearly administrative costs of the National Health Service from 1948 to 1961.

The table below gives, for England and Wales, the administrative costs of the Central Government, the Executive Councils, the Dental Estimates Board, and the central offices of the hospital authorities (including professional staff employed in the planning of capital works). The cost of administration at individual hospitals is not separately identifiable. Figures for 1948–49 are not available.
