BoyleWages and salaries have risen from £2,830 million in 1938, to £13,690 million in 1960; whilst ordinary dividends paid by companies, other than those which have been nationalised at any time since 1938, have risen from £331 million to £961 million during the same period. This represents an increase of 384 per cent. in earnings and an increase of 190 per cent. in dividends.
