HC Deb 20 February 1962 vol 654 c24W
51. Mr. W. Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the continued increase in unemployment in Scotland and the reduction in the number of prospective jobs available, he will consider the feasibility of locating in Scotland Government-owned and controlled factories producing consumer durables.

Mr. Erroll

No. While I regret that the rate of unemployment in Scotland continues to be relatively high, I do not consider this proposal either practicable or desirable.
