asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many uncertificated teachers are employed in Fife; and, of these, how many are over 60 years of age;

(2) in which Fife schools uncertificated teachers, who are considered below standard, are employed;

(3) what is the number of staff in each school in Fife where uncertificated teachers are employed.

On 2nd October, 1961, the latest date for which figures are available, 242 uncertificated teachers were employed by Fife Education Authority, 17 of them over 60 years of age. I am sending to the hon. Member details of the schools employing uncertificated teachers.
