HC Deb 14 February 1962 vol 653 cc164-5W
103. Lieut. - Commander Maydon

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what proportion of industrial staff in the foul. Royal Dockyards in the United Kingdom reported for duty on Monday, 5th February, the day of the one-day strike.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

88 per cent. reported for duty and a further 4 per cent. were on approved leave or sick leave, so that only 8 per cent. of the industrial staff in the four home yards were on strike. Allowing for leave and sick leave 85 per cent. reported for duty at Chatham, 92 per cent. at Devonport, 981 per cent. at Portsmouth and 76 per cent. at Rosyth.
