HC Deb 14 February 1962 vol 653 c156W
30. Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Minister of Transport what arrangements had been made to ensure that, in planning the re-organisation of the railways, due regard is paid to the need to preserve the principal monuments of the railway age in order to prevent the recurrence of such losses as the demolition of the Euston Arch.

Mr. Marples

None. These buildings and monuments are subject to the appropriate provisions in the Town and Country Planning legislation and ancient monuments legislation for the protection of historic buildings and ancient monuments. There is no reason to make special provision for railway monuments.
