§ 83. Mr. Stracheyasked the Lord Privy Seal whether he will make a further statement about the request of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to place observers on the frontier between Northern Rhodesia and the Congo.
§ Mr. HeathU Thant's original request was discussed with the Federal Government. As a result U Thant was invited to go to Salisbury for discussion of all aspects of traffic across the Northern Rhodesia-Katanga frontier, or to send a representative. This invitation is still under discussion, although we understand that U Thant cannot himself accept it.
