asked the Minister of Labour how many persons are gainfully employed in the Cleveland area.

Mr. Hare

It is estimated that there were about 54,300 insured employees in employment in the Cleveland division at end-May 1960, the latest date for which figures are available. Figures of gainfully employed persons, which include employers and self-employed, are available only for Great Britain.
