HC Deb 13 February 1962 vol 653 c138W
87. Mr. W. R. Williams

asked the Postmaster-General what steps he has taken since 30th January, 1962, to resolve the dispute with the Post Office Engineering Union which has led to working to rule.

Mr. Bevins

On 9th February I received from the union a letter which I am studying, and I shall be replying as soon as possible.

88. Mr. Randall

asked the Postmaster-General in how many telephone areas he has suspended one or more provisions of engineering instructions as a result of the working to rule.

Mr. Bevins

I have suspended, or partly suspended, a very limited number of rules in six areas. The changes so far affect the work of just over 100 men, out of a total of 70,000.
