HC Deb 13 February 1962 vol 653 cc138-9W
85. Sir M. Stoddart-Scott

asked the Postmaster-General if he will now permit the Independent Television Authority to transmit an adult educational programme for three hours every Saturday morning, without advertising breaks.

Mr. Bevins

It is for the I.T.A. to decide whether to transmit such a programme within the present permitted hours of broadcasting. I am sorry I cannot consider a regular extension of the hours of broadcasting beyond the present limits until the Committee on Broadcasting has reported and the Government have had the opportunity to consider its recommendations.
