HC Deb 12 February 1962 vol 653 c106W
57. Sir B. Janner

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make a statement on the recent tour of the Parliamentary Secretary of trunk road schemes in the North Midlands; and what new measures are to be taken to make improvements to existing conditions.

Mr. Marples

My hon. Friend paid a short visit last month to the Nottingham-Derby-Leicester area in order to inspect some of the major and minor trunk road schemes recently completed, now in the course of construction or due to be started in the near future. He took the opportunity to meet members of the regional Press and to explain to them the amount of effort and money that is going into the provision of better and safer roads in the North Midland area.

I hope to be in a position to make a statement about the future trunk road programme for the whole of the country very shortly.
