§ Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport what is the nature of the road work which was started on the east side of Portman Square, W.1, several months ago; and when it will be completed.
§ Mr. MarplesPart of the wide pavement on the east side of Portman Square is being converted into carriageway in order to improve the traffic flow. The necessary strengthening of the vaults under the pavement is being carried out by the frontager as part of a general reconstruction and should be completed by June.
The programming of the road works is now under discussion, but it is hoped the whole scheme will be completed by July.
