In how many cases magistrates' courts have exercised their power under Section 60 (2) of the Mental Health Act, 1959, to make a hospital order without a conviction.

During the period from November 1, 1960, the date when Part V of the Mental Health Act, 1959, came into operation, to September 30, 1961, magistrates' courts in England and Wales made hospital orders under Section 60 (2) of the Act in respect of 87 persons.
