HC Deb 21 December 1962 vol 669 cc283-4W
Mr. P. Browne

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that twice in the past five weeks ships have been in distress off the Hartland Point area in severe gales, and that one ship went aground with danger to the lives of those on board; and if he will consult the interests concerned with a view to building a harbour in this area as a refuge for shipping and thus avoid the risks run by the lifeboatmen and coastguards.

Mr. Marples

I am aware of the incidents mentioned. As regards the second part of the Question, I will consider the matter and will write to my hon. Friend.
