HC Deb 21 December 1962 vol 669 c270W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Lord Privy Seal what changes have been recently made in the composition of the United Nations forces in Katanga and other parts of the ex-Belgian Congo, respectively; and what reduction in cost has resulted.

Mr. Heath

Two battalions of Ethiopian troops were moved early in December from Orientale Province to South Katanga; at the same time a Nigerian battalion was moved from Luluabourg to Kongolo, in North Katanga. Two Indonesian battalions are on their way to the Congo, where they will relieve one Tunisian and one Malayan battalion. I am not aware that these moves have resulted in any reduction in cost.
