§ 13. Mr. Thorntonasked the President of the Board of Trade what was the value of British exports of textile machinery to China, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Eastern Europe, respectively, in 1959, 1960, 1961, and to the latest convenient date in 1962; what proportion this represents of total British exports of this type of machinery in each of the four years; and what proposals he is discussing with the Export Credits Guarantee Department with a view to improving the terms which British manufacturers can offer when competing in these markets.
§ Mr. ErrollAs regards the last part of the Question, the Export Creditors Guarantee Department's facilities already afford adequate support for British manufacturers to compete in these as in other markets. Following is the information requested in the first two parts of the Question:
Local Employment Act. So far as the Board of Trade is concerned over a quarter of a million square feet of Government factory space, including an advance factory, is being built or has been approved in Sunderland.
