asked as Minister of Health how many autopsies were carried out on persons who died during the recent smog in London and Leeds; and in how many cases death was recorded as having been caused by carbon dioxide and other noxious substances emitted by solid fuels.

The provisional figures for the period 4th-7th December inclusive are 256 London, 24 Leeds; 7 and 2 deaths (excluding suicides).
