asked the Minister of Defence what previous Government appointments were held by Sir Solly Zuckerman prior to his appointment as Scientific Adviser to the Ministry of Defence and Chairman to the Defence Research Policy Committee in 1960; and whether these appointments were full-time.

Before his appointment as Scientific Adviser to the Minister of Defence Sir Solly Zuckerman served on numerous Government Committees both civil and military in a part time capacity. In addition at the beginning of the last war he advised the Minister of Home Security on the effects of bombing. He later served successively as Scientific Adviser to the Chief of Combined Operations; Scientific Adviser to the Mediterranean Allied Air Force; Scientific Adviser on Planning to the Allied Expeditionary Air Forces; and Scientific Adviser to Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces; and Scientific Director of the British Bombing Survey Unit.
