§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsNo. The Middlesex County Council which has permissive powers to carry out improvement works on these watercourses, is an independent local authority and my right hon. Friend has no power to tell it what priority it should give its works. I understand that it is considering the possibility of undertaking remedial works on the Wembley Brook as part of its major comprehensive proposals for the River Brent system.
