§ Sir K. JosephIn England and Wales the nearest equivalent to a four-apartment house is a three-bedroom house. The average cost of council houses of this type—including land, site development and fees—approved during 1961 was £2,255.
In 1960–61, the average annual rent received for all local authority dwellings in England and Wales—including flats and houses and ranging from one- 228W bedroom to four-bedroom dwellings—was £54 12s. I have no information about the average amount paid in rates.
