Mr. Brockwayasked the Lord Privy Seal what representations have been made to the Government of the Republic of South Africa regarding its decision to fence and control the frontiers of the High Commission Protectorates in order to restrict the movement of inhabitants of the Protectorates to and from their home territories.
§ 49. Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Lord Privy Seal what information he has received from the Government of South Africa regarding their proposals to set up frontier controls to control the movements of refugees between South Africa and the British High Commission Territories.
§ Mr. GodberThe South African Government informed us in April that they wished, within the changed constitutional position, to disturb as little as possible the existing relationship between the178W Republic and the High Commission Territories. But they intended to make certain adjustments affecting in particular the entry into the Republic of Africans from the Territories and their employment in the Republic.
