HC Deb 19 December 1962 vol 669 c190W
79. Mr. Hilton

asked the Secretary of State for War how many acres of land in Norfolk are reserved specifically as a military battle training area; how much longer it will be necessary to use this land for this purpose; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Profumo

The battle area at Stanford, where live ammunition is fired, comprises about 16,000 acres of which some 15,600 acres are War Department freehold. It will be necessary to use this land for as long as I can foresee.
