HC Deb 18 December 1962 vol 669 c174W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will appoint a committee, including representatives of his Department, the local authorities concerned with overcrowding problems in conurbations on a river, and shipowners, to explore the possibilities of subsidising temporary accommodation in obsolete liners for those waiting for a house of their own, with a view to introducing legislation.

Mr. Noble

It would be premature to consider the question of subsidy before the practical aspects of the hon. Member's suggestion have been studied. That is not, I think, an appropriate task for a committee, but I shall be ready to examine any proposals that housing authorities may submit to me.
