HC Deb 18 December 1962 vol 669 c153W
33. Miss Herbison

asked the Postmaster-General if he will estimate the value and percentage of his Department's contracts that have been placed with firms within a 100-mile radius of Dollis Hill, in each of the years 1956 to 1961.

Miss Pike

Nearly £200 million, or just under half.

39. Mr. Lawson

asked the Postmaster-General if he will make a statement about his Department's efforts to find firms in areas of heavy unemployment with whom to place orders for Post Office equipment.

Miss Pike

All inquiries from firms who wish to tender for Post Office business are carefully examined: if they are suitable the firms are added to the list of those from whom tenders are invited. We have no reason to suppose that suitable firms fail to make such inquiry.
