HC Deb 17 December 1962 vol 669 c138W
Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Aviation whether he has now reached a final decision on the location of an airport for Glasgow; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Amery

As my predecessor stated on 14th November, 1960, Abbotsinch is the most convenient location for Glasgow's airport. Planning of the necessary development work is proceeding.

In the White Paper published in August, 1961, Glasgow was included among those airports which in the Government's view should become a local responsibility. I am still discussing with representatives of Scottish local authorities the implementation of the White Paper policy in Scotland.
