§ 101. Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Transport, in view of the dangerous effects of fumes and obnoxious smoke ejected from motor vehicles, if he will take steps to examine this problem with a view to introducing protection for those affected.
§ Mr. MarplesI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Bristol, North-East (Mr. Hopkins) on 28th November, and also to the Annual Report of the Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health for 1961, which states that natural ventilation and dispersion in the streets appear sufficient to prevent any of the compounds found in exhaust fumes from reaching harmful concentrations in the air.
