HL Deb 12 December 1962 vol 245 c780WA
THE EARL OF HARROWBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether an explanation can now be given as to the cause of the 1944 explosion with its serious loss of life and of munitions at the Fauld Alabaster Mine in Staffordshire, and whether the report of the Inquiry can now be made available.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (LORD CARRINGTON)

The cause of the explosion at Fauld in 1944 was never established.

It is not the practice to publish the reports of Royal Air Force boards of inquiry and notwithstanding the lapse of time it would not, in my opinion, be in the public interest to make an exception in this case.

House adjourned at six minutes past eight o'clock.
