HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 c27W
23. Mr. Awbery

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that practically all the refugees from Tristan da Cunha have decided that they wish to go back to their island home; and, since it has been inspected and declared fit for their return, if he will now take steps to transport them in one group and not split them up into small parties which will travel at different times.

Mr. Fisher

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Anglesey (Mr. C. Hughes) on 27th November. Arrangements are being made for an advance party of about 50 to go out in February and my right hon. Friend hopes to arrange for all the others who wish to do so to leave together later in the year.
