§ Miss PikeA total of 2,827 extra staff were recruited in Northern Ireland for the 1961 Christmas period, 459 of whom were ex-Service men. Below are the detailed figures for each head postmaster's area. Preference is given throughout the year to suitable unemployed ex-Service men who apply for casual work; and every suitable ex-Service applicant for whom a vacancy is available will be engaged this Christmas.
