Q13. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the Royal Commission on the Distribution of Industrial Population in 1940 recommended the setting up of a national board with the duty of supervising and guiding the location, dispersal and social environment of industry and securing a reasonable balance of industrial development throughout Great Britain; and whether he will now take steps to set up such an authority with powers to deal with the renewed threat of dangerous concentration of industry in the south and the relative depopulation of Scotland and the North of England.

These are very important problems. But I do not think that it would help to set up such a board.
